Do we need to eat off-color tasteless food along with those heavy medications? Can’t you enjoy your life once you have been diagnosed with diabetes? Isn’t there a better way out than to spend your life like a culinary prisoner?

Well, those surely are some of the questions that pop up in the minds of diabetics. Life for sure becomes difficult if you have such a disorder.

However, the good news is that yes there is a way out and you can again feel ‘lively’ and enjoy what you eat to the fullest!

Here are some healthy and tasty meals for our diabetic friends…

Banana and Grapefruit with Honey:
If you really want a quick, tasty, highly nutritious breakfast then this is it! Besides, you don’t have to compromise on having sweets by eating fruits.

Grapefruit, as we all know, is highly beneficial for people suffering from diabetes. Together with banana and honey, this meal can provide you the required fibers, potassium and Vitamin C to stay energized for the whole day.

How to Prepare:
Preparing this meal is pretty easy and can be done in less than 5 minutes. Take a full sized grapefruit and make round slices of it.

Add one or two sliced bananas to it along with honey. Slightly toss and shake the bowl so that the grapefruit juice and honey covers the banana slices. That’s it! Your juicy meal is ready!

Blueberry Muffins:
So, you feel like eating deserts but the red-headed evil doctor doesn’t let you? That’s sad but don’t you worry, here is an awesome desert which has calorie free sweeteners and quite a few carbohydrates to make sure you stay booted up and to keep your diabetes in check!

How to Prepare:
Here is what you will need: 1 ½ cup of all-purpose flour, ¼ tspn salt, ¼ vegetable oil, 1 tspn orange (grated), 3 tblespns sugar, 1 tspn vanilla extract, a mug of fresh blueberries, one beaten egg, cooking spray, ½ tspn ground allspice, 3 tblespns calorie free sugar, 1 tspn lemon (grated), ¾ cup fresh fat free milk and 2 tspns baking powder.

Mix flour, sugar, sweetener, baking powder, salt and allspice in a bowl. Now, add the blueberries and mix them well so that they are coated with the mixture.

Next, combine milk and all the other ingredients. Add dry flour to make the mixture dry. Bake for at least 20 minutes to make sure the muffins are cooked well.

Berries and Maple Cream:
Here’s a quick and yummy desert that you will love to eat and enjoy!

How to Prepare:
You will need: Maple syrup (1/4 cup), fresh blueberries (1 cup), sour cream (fat free ¾ cup) and raspberries (1 ½ cups).

Mix the cream and the maple syrup in a bowl. Add the berries to it and your desert is ready!

Those are just some simple recipes that can make your diabetes diet a little bit more bearable.
